Amalgamated wireless (Australasia) Ltd was formed in 1913. To start with they made various components, including valves. It wasn't long before the manufacture of transmitters and receivers was undertaken. AWA models in New Zealand were all imported from Australia, the last of these being in 1938.
This radio is an AWA Fisk Radiola. It is a 1934/35 model. It is a Dual wave model with 5 valves. There are 2 dial lights, but they work one at a time, each showing half the dial, depending whether one is on Broadcast or Short Wave. I don't recall seeing another console with an almost horizontal control panel, as opposed to the usual almost vertical face.
