Grundig is a very well known, good quality German brand. They were never made in New Zealand. This tape recorder was bought by my son for $11. It is in extremely good condition, and works very well, on all 3 speeds. I have no idea what it is like internally, or how many valves it has, but it is very heavy! The control labels are all in German.
